Punjab State Coordination Committee Meeting for Doubling Farmers Income by 2022 held at ICAR-CIPHET
First meeting of Punjab State Coordination Committee for Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 was organized at ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana on 21st April, 2017. This meeting was chaired by Dr. B.S. Dhillon, Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana and Chairman of the State Coordination Committee and convened by Dr. R.K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-CIPHET and Convenor. Among the members of the committee Dr. Madan Mohan, Director and Warden of Fisheries Department, Govt. of Punjab, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-IIMR, Ludhiana, Dr. Krishna Murari, Senior Inspecting Officer, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, New Delhi, Dr. R. S. Brar, Joint Director, Agricultural Inputs, Govt. of Punjab, Dr. Ram Singh, Officer Incharge of CIRB were present in the meeting. Among others Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Director Research, GADVASU, Ludhiana, Dr. R.S. Sidhu, Director Extension PAU, Ludhiana, Dr. R.K. Singh, Project Coordinator, AICRP-PHET, Ludhiana, Dr. Harmail Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, Govt. of Punjab, Dr. Paramdeep Singh Walia, ADAP, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Govt. of Punjab were present. The meeting started with the welcome address by Dr. R. K. Gupta and opening remarks by Dr.B.S.Dhillon. All the members presented their views and strategies for doubling farmers income by March 2022. The members emphasised on the sectors such as Integrated farming, Post harvest processing and value addition, marketing and farm mechanization for immediate action. Among other sectors livestock farming especially piggery and fish farming was given special attention for doubling farmers’ income. Scientists from ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana Dr. S.K. Nanda, Head, FG & OP Division, Dr. Anil Kumar Dixit, Principal Scientist, Dr. Sandeep Mann, Principal Scientist and Dr. Armaan U. Muzaddadi, Senior Scientist also attended the meeting and contributed in preparing a roadmap for doubling farmers’ income in Punjab.
