Virtual symposium on “Solar Energy in Post-Harvest Sector” on 29th May, 2021
ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana organized a virtual symposium on “Solar Energy in Post-Harvest Sector” on May 29, 2021 (11.00 AM to 1.00 PM) through Zoom and Youtube LIVE. The programme was arranged as a part of “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav”; to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence. The aim was to share scientific knowledge and discuss the advancements in application of solar energy for post-harvest management of agricultural produce. In all, 248 participants consisting of scientists, academicians, scholars and entrepreneurs have participated in live session on Zoom, whereas many others joined via the Youtube link from India and some Indian diaspora from abroad. Dr. K. Narsaiah, Head (Act.) Agricultural Structures and Environmental Control Division, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana and also the Coordinator of the Symposium, welcomed the participants and briefed the context of the theme of the symposium. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana set the tone of virtual symposium, in his opening remarks, by elaborating clearly the importance and relevance of solar energy in post-harvest sector. Then invited speakers; Dr. Sangeeta Chopra, Dr. S. Murali, and Dr. Bidyalakshmi Devi, made presentation on “Application of solar energy in cold chain”,“Sustainable energy options for drying” and “Application of solar energy in plant utilities of food processing”, respectively. The programme received very positive feedback from the participants about utility, relevance and quality of presentation. The symposium ended with the formal vote of thanks by the coordinator.
