Celebration of International Day of Yoga (IDY) at ICAR-CIPHET
ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana along with ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal successfully celebrated 7th annual International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2021 through video conferencing. Participants included the scientific, administrative, technical and supporting staffs, students and other Indian citizens. There were 122 participants participated during the programme from both the institutes (CIPHET, Ludhiana & Abohar, CIAE, Bhopal & Coimbatore) from their respective homes. Dr. Debabandya Mohapatra, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIAE coordinated the programme. This year’s programme was themed at “Yoga for well-being”. The programme was started at 7.00 AM with introduction of Yog Guru, Shri. Sanjay Gurvekar followed by Pranayam as guided by Yog Guru.
After pranayama, Dr. Anju Soni, Physician, delivered the lecture on the theme “Menopause, its symptoms, and overall management” by means of therapeutic lifestyle, exercise, and medical interventions, if needed.
The Yogabhyas session included micro exercises and Asanaas according to ‘Common Yog Protocols’ prescribed by Govt. of India. Yog Guru, Shri. Sanjay Gurvekar guided through all the activities and also provided information on benefits and precautions.
Earlier Dr. C.R. Mehta, Director, ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal, briefed about the importance of Yoga and urged to Yog Guru to suggest regular yoga exercise which can be done in minimum time. Sh. Anil Handa delivered the vote of thanks, which was followed by the concluding remarks by Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, who urged the participants to practice basic yoga kriyas such as Pranayam, Sukshma Vyayam, and Asanas. He advised to form groups to ensure regularity and discipline.
