ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana organized plantation in Punjab on ICAR Foundation Day
For the mission of Indian Council of Agricultural Research to plant 1 crore saplings to make India Green, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana organized a campaign on ‘On-farm boundary plantation in Punjab’ on ICAR Foundation Day (16.07.2021). About 500 saplings of Neem, Phycus, Ponocarpus, Ashoka, Sheesam, Mango, Amaltas, Gulmohar Gulmohar, Bel were planted in the institute campus, villages, health centre and schools. The program was inaugurated with the briefing about the mission of council and importance of planting by Dr. R.K.Singh, I/c Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana to all staffs. Each staff planted at least one sapling in the campus and then Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav teams were relayed by showing green flag to visit the villages. Nine teams from both of its campuses at Ludhiana and Abohar comprising 35 scientists and technical officers visited different villages (Jalaldiwal, Rajjowal, Baranhada, Hambran, Bagga Khurd, KeraKhera, Abohar) to plant 50 sapling to each villages and to sensitize the people in and around to encourage plantation. With the national theme ‘Har Med Par Ped', the country farm dykes were utilized to increase green canopy of landscape thus without affecting farm land production. Under the guidance of Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, the Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana this campaign was coordinated by Dr. D. N. Yadav, Pr. Scientist and Head, TOT Division and Mr. Vikas Kumar, Scientist. SAO, FAO and heads of divisions were present About 50 staffs participated and sensitized 200-300 farmers in the program. In this connection an online session has already been organized by ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana for farmers inviting expert from PAU, Ludhiana.
